BENIN

We went to Benin at short notice to help start the construction of a clinic. The Peniel Clinic located in Cocotomy Benin was the vision of a local church to serve its community.

The programme was helped with the initial construction works in 2000 by Mission Challenge*. The clinic is so successful that it was in desperate need of extra space for its maternity work and by the time this phase of work was complete they had a new building for this vital work.

It was a real privilege to see the clinic in action each day it was staffed by some wonderful people a full time doctor, nurses and a lab technician. We saw the twice weekly anti-natal clinics carrying out immunisations, weighing etc. and we saw at least 1 new baby delivered each day.

One of the most common problems we saw was people suffering with malaria which was treated successfully if caught early enough.

The clinic was a great example to us all of a local church very successfully meeting the needs of the people it has been called to serve.

Mission Challenge and Mission Direct facilitates short term mission trips to places such as Benin and Togo.

If you are interested in joining one of these short term please contact us for details.
