We went for a 9 week outreach to Togo West Africa. We had an extremely busy and fruitful time and were truly blessed during our stay. Many of you will know we went to carry out 2 construction projects, the first was at a primary school and the second was at a Christian business school. A brief summary of the practical things we carried out in Togo: - Plastered and painted the primary school. Refurbished the school toilets, fitted sinks for hand washing. Installed 2 1000 ltr tanks with rainwater catchment system for drinking. Constructed a new school building. Installed a new pump to the open well. Built a school store room. Repaired playground equipment. Constructed a new classroom at the college. Constructed 2 new rooms, 2 new W.C’s and provided equipment for the new classroom. Rebuilt a damaged house. Fitted mosquito netting to doors and windows at an orphanage. Cleaned a clinic.Paid for a well to be constructed.

Again we went as project managers for the construction works, we employed local people to carry out the works, we also hosted 3 teams totalling 21 people from the UK and each team came for 10 days. the teams joined our local tradesmen in completing a host of practical jobs. We also gave testimony in churches, showed the Jesus film, shared our faith and prayed with many people.

We are still amazed at how well the children adapted to their new surroundings they gained so much confidence and have learnt so much about the way of life in Togo. We are also surprised at the amount of compassion our children have, for example, our washing lady Rachel had a phone call one day saying that her mud brick house had collapsed due to the heavy rainfall she was obviously very upset. Josh just looked up to us with tears in his eyes and said “can we go and build her a new one". He put into words what was on our hearts so on our next ’work away from site day ' we travelled a couple of hours into the mountains of Agou where she lives and rebuilt the missing walls of her home.
